Final Stings. I have put these together as a collective so you can see what they look like as a whole. The sound design was created by a talented German who goes under the name Audionerve. We worked together in a tight timescale to get the best sound possible.

Overall I am pleased with these. Once again I have learnt new things even though the technique is traditional, it feels like I started to become a animator motion designer a lot more over the last month or so.

Bathroom - Cel

As iI didn’t want to just have another Balloon popping I thought I could make another one using the same beginning section but have the balloon, detaching itself from the Deo can. I will work it so it goes behind the Cup with Toothbrushes in.

Bathroom - Cel

Much like the Kitchen one I wanted a fluid fee to this, I drew in Flash using the brush, even though I ant the fluidity of the Kitchen sting, I want it to ben different. For the top Section I had it fill from the top down over, which then started to drop to form the little triangles, which is quite nice.

For the bottom I have the standard fill up, but the trail it leaves behind is quite nice to see.

I added a bit of spice to the  balloon popping by adding some clouds, I think it works well, the colours compliment each other quite nicely. Instead duplicating the clouds, I drew both separately because I wanted a different feel to them, as they will have different impacts due to being different sizes.

Bathroom - Hand Drawn Cel

So I took it upon myself to learn some hand animation techniques that I guess Animation courses teach you, I thought it would be a good idea to do so, as so far I have really enjoyed doing Cel Animation, and this would be a good aspect of it.

I started reading through this at Mainframe

Really good book on basic animation techniques from the pro’s.

I started by using my lightbox that I bought at crimbo and haven’t used it at all. So i printed a A4 page of my scene to have a template, and began drawing balloons, marking each page with a frame number, to keep order.

My workflow was this : Draw one frame in pencil, go over in fine liner, mark page number, place fresh piece of paper on top as a onion skin after. I then scanned in opened everything in Illustrator and Live Traced it, then expanded it. Each balloon was on its own layer in Illustrator, making it easier to bring into Flash. Once in flash I then repositioned, and had to manually go through each layer, changed the white and black lines to the Magenta colour.

Pain staking. Hand animation most unethical animation possible.

Bathroom - Cel

I am starting this one differently, since its only the top of the Deoderant can that animates, I can animate that to the timing of the Cel Animation.

However I am struggling to come yp with sound drawings to illustrate for the Deo cans. I have been thinking of ripples,  sound waves and Circles to portal sound…

I then came up with the idea of using Balloons to portray the sound, so if the deocans are trumpets, the note is held which blows up  the balloon. How doing it from shapes in Flash and Illustrator was working. I went to the drawing board.

Final Bedroom.

I believe this is my final piece for the bedroom animation. I like the way it flows, timings good for the sound designer. I will have to assess what the sound is like to whether I make changes.

Bedroom - Cel

I have broke the parts down more and added an explosion. I think this personally works well, but not yet seen it in the final film, as it needs correcting After Effects and layering up. I believe sound will help all over these stings.

I change the blobs to flow more with broken parts.

Bedroom - Timings

I have placed everything together in After Effects. Its really nice to see what it looks like. I like how it flows but I’m not sure of the Logo form, I think I will try breaking the parts into smaller pieces.

I thought it would be a nice touch to add some cartoon like dust kicking up when the alarm clock bounces up. I will have to implement it properly in After Effects, to get the timing right. Also I need to add the layers.
